The Wayward Son

Day 12 of NaPoWriMo.  Today’s prompt was to “describe in great detail your favorite room, place, meal, day, or person. You can do this in paragraph form.”  And then you “cut unnecessary words like articles and determiners (a, the, that) and anything that isn’t really necessary for content; leave mainly nouns, verbs, a few adjectives.”  I didn’t follow the prompt closely, but as I was writing a Sapphic for Day 11, it seemed like this was a good companion to that piece.

My dreams, my aspirations, doesn't include
scissors, blades, razors, mirrors, aprons, and chairs,
clipping, trimming, grooming men’s hair. There’s more to
life than barber’s trade.
