Day 4 of NaPoWriMo 2020
Marine Life in Space
Jellyfish galaxies propelling in unison across the milky way
Ambling giant turtles, with shells showcasing aquariums
Dolphin-airplane hybrids leaping over the moon
A darting pod of narwhals with bazookas for tusks
Now the variously crescented moons of jupiter
Gobbling up stars racing through a forested maze of
Coral and sea anemone, giant kelp, seagrass and sea lettuce
One pacman-moon sporting a dali moustache racing after the sun
ready to swallow and cause an eclipse
The surreal seems too real, but also unreal
As I have no need to be within the
confines of a spacesuit, and can and do
warp-speed through worm-holes to new worlds
Riding on the back of a galloping sea-horse.
Notes:
Day 4 of NaPoWriMo 2020. Today’s prompt is,
takes its cue from our gently odd resources, and asks you to write a poem based on an image from a dream. We don’t always remember our dreams, but images or ideas from them often stick with us for a very long time. I definitely have some nightmares I haven’t been able to forget, but I’ve also witnessed very lovely things in dreams (like snow falling on a flood-lit field bordered by fir trees, as seen through a plate glass window in a very warm and inviting kitchen). Need an example of a poem rooted in dream-based imagery? Try this one by Michael Collier.
Not much to say for this one – pretty much drawing dream-based imagery.
I like the first image of “jellyfish galaxies propelling.” It propelled me, as a reader, through the marvelous galaxy of your poem.
Many thanks. So happy you enjoyed it.
