Prelude

Day 10 of NaPoWriMo prompt was to write an abecedarian poem – which derives its structure from the alphabet.  The prompt suggested couple of ways of writing one – either a 26 words poem, with each word using the successive letters of the alphabet. Or 26 lines, each starting with the successive letters.  Or it could be just a set of letters.

Prelude
Aggrandizing,
boastful
claims were made,
dizzying heights were
exclaimed.
Falsities that were
grandiose,
hollow,
incoherent, and incomprehensible, carried the day.
Jeering those who dissented,
kabuki plays were staged.
Loud-mouth, know-nothings-it all's, lampooned the less sanguine,
masked the real threats, while the
nattering nabobs egged the neophytes on.
Opposing opinions were shouted down, opponents’
patriotism
questioned.
Rancor, mouth-frothing rabidity ruled,
schemers, grifters had amassed
together,
ultimately unleashing the
vitriol and vilification.
Warlocks, warlords, warmongers hyped weapons,
xenophobes cocksure of their xenogamous transplants
yammering and hammering their deadly ideas -
zyzzyvas burrowing deep and hollowing from within.
